Honeydew Margarita!

For the first time in the history of my blog, I am sharing a cocktail recipe! Yes, it’s true that only wine and beer are technically allowed according to our 100 Days of Real Food pledge rules, BUT it’s no secret that (with our pledge officially over) we do indulge in some special treats on occasion. So, just in time for Cinco de Mayo, here is my husband’s recipe for Homemade Honeydew Melon Margaritas! Yum :)

Oh, and P.S. – My neighbor who is a Skinnygirl Margarita lover thought this version was even better!

And while we are talking Cinco de Mayo, here are some other Mexican-inspired real food recipes you’ll often find on the table at our house…

Servings: 4 people

  • 2 cups honeydew ripe, diced
  • 1 cup silver tequila preferably 100% agave
  • 1/2 cup lime juice freshly squeezed from about 4 limes
  • 4 teaspoons honey
  • salt Margarita, for serving (optional)

  • Place all ingredients in a blender and blend just until the melon is liquified (over-blending will make for foamy drinks!). In our Blendtec, this was achieved in about 10 seconds on power level 6.
  • Pour half the mixture into a cocktail shaker partially filled with ice. Shake until cold and pour over ice into salt rimmed glasses (run a lime wedge around the lip of the glass and dunk into Margarita salt) or serve with no salt.
  • Garnish with a lime wedge if desired. Repeat for the remaining two servings.

We recommend organic ingredients when feasible.

  1. These sound yummy. I was wondering if you have any other margarita recipes. I love blackberry and strawberry margaritas and I would love to make them a little healthier. Thanks in advance.

Hi. This is the only margarita recipe we have but you could give it a try with a different fruit.

  2. I made this and it was a hit! My husband loves margaritas and this is a great option. Unless my measurement was off, it was a bit strong so added more melon. Thanks for another delicious recipe and alternative.

  3. Lisa, I LOVE your blog!!! This recipe looks delish and I plan on trying it the way it is this weekend. I was wondering if you think it would be just as good with strawberries??

  4. If I wanted to make virgin style what could I use to sub the 1 cup tequila so it doesn’t mess up the consistency? Thanks.

Hi there. I suppose you could just add water. Obviously the taste will be more mild.
