Is this stored at room temperature or in the refrigerator? I have a small family and we would not be able to finish this much chocolate sauce atbone sitting. I hope you can store it!

Store leftovers in the fridge (just like you would plain syrup)!

We want to try your home made "pop tarts" . For a treat we would like to try smore pop tarts. Could this sauce be used with homemade marshmallows inside the "pop tart"?

We're trying to substitute some of the unhealthy foods in our house for healthier versions. Our kids love chocolate milk, but we hate giving them high fructose corn syrup. I just tried this and it was a hit for my husband, myself, and my 3 and 5 year old daughters.

Is powdered cacao the same thing as cocoa powder?

I use cacao. I find it to be richer. But, cocoa is just fine as long as there are no added ingredients. This might help you distinguish: http://www.onegreenplanet.org/vegan-food/cacao-vs-cocoa-what-you-need-to-know/.

If I were to make a large batch of the syrup, how long would keep in the refrigerator?

Hi there. We've not tried keeping a large batch so I'm not sure. I have used a small jar for several weeks.

Can you use honey instead of maple syrup?

Hi there. Other readers have used honey. It is not something we have tried.

I didn't have any maple syrup so I tried (local, organic) honey (per your question)...it's good...really good!

I just stumbled across this recipe and had my doubts. So, of course, I had to hurry to the kitchen, just to test it out. So amazing! Happy to have found this "real food" alternative to something so delicious!

Mmm! This is terrific. Used it to dip strawberries. Later it called to me from the fridge so I tried dipping mini shredded wheats, also mmm!

This is so easy and it does make delicious chocolate milk I threw the Hershey's syrup in the garbage.

At least now they have one that is just 5 ingredients ("simply 5')... I've been buying that for years but I'm definitely going to try the recipe here.

I made this for the first time for my family and guests to pour over brownies and ice cream. It was great, tasted a lot like Hershey syrup but without the extra ingredients. I got the recipe from your cookbook, which I love! I have followed your page for a long time but I think this is the first time I have commented. Thanks for all the valuable information!
