11/16/21: Baby Spinach E. coli Outbreak Alert in 7 States

Take action—if you’ve recently purchased Josie’s Organic Baby Spinach, discard it immediately if it has a “best by date” of October 23rd, 2021. It’s been reported that 10 illnesses have been caused by E. coli related to consuming this product across 7 states.

If you have any packages of Josie’s Organic Baby Spinach in your refrigerator with a ‘best by date’ of October 23, 2021, it is advised to throw it away immediately and then wash with hot soapy water any area or items that may have come in contact with this product.

Reports stated that five people mentioned eating spinach within a week of them getting sick and only one reported using Josie’s Organic Baby Spinach. It’s best to take caution and be aware of the food you are consuming, even while eating at restaurants until further notice.

Officials are continuing to investigate further to determine if any other products may be contaminated. If you begin to show signs of any symptoms related to E. coli, please reach out to your healthcare provider right away.

10/21/21: Onion Salmonella Outbreak Alert in 37 States

Stop what you’re doing and discard all red, white, and yellow onions in your kitchen that are unlabeled or from Mexico! There has been a large Salmonella outbreak throughout the US. and over 600 people are sick in 37 states.

It is advised that you do not eat, buy, or serve, any red, white, or yellow whole onions coming from Mexico or distributed by ProSource, Inc. If your onion is not labeled and you can’t tell where it’s from, assume it’s contaminated and do not eat it.

While the last report was on August 27th, you may still have onions in your house as they can last up to three months, so be sure to check your kitchen and throw away any unmarked onions. The CDC has stated that salmonella cases linked back to onions have sent 129 people to the hospital (as of today).
