    I love the tomato sauce recipe in the new cookbook! I wanted to let you know a modification I made–my husband and son are allergic to garlic, so I’ve been hunting for a good pizza sauce recipe. I used your tomato sauce (minus garlic), put it in the crock pot with the lid off, and reduced it down to a lovely gloppy pizza sauce. Then I froze it in half-cup increments, in ziplock bags. This has been great, as I’ve been getting pounds of fresh tomatoes from a friend’s garden. It takes about half an hour to run all those tomatoes through the food processor, dump it all in the crock pot, and turn it on.

    Thanks for everything. I am slowly bringing my family around to real food.

    Quick question, are all of these recipes listed on the recipe index from the book? Or is there more recipes available in the book? I have yet to purchase it but I do plan on it!!

    Hello! I love this website :) it has been so inspiring. But I do need help finding the home made recipe for taco seasoning. Thank you so much!

    • Original recipe makes 1 ounce
      1 tablespoon chili powder
      1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
      1/2 teaspoon onion powder
      1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (omit or use less depending on how spicy you like it)
      1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
      1/2 teaspoon paprika
      1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
      1 teaspoon sea salt ( I use 1/4, for low sodium content)

      before cooking I add 1 tablespoon cornstarch to 2/3 cup of water per pound of meat/turkey

      I normally make 10 servings of this and use 3 tablespoons per pound of meat/turkey

      And here is Lisa’s:
      “Throw together a big batch of homemade taco seasoning by combining 1 tablespoon of chili powder and 1 ½ teaspoons each of cumin, oregano, and salt. Add some red pepper to taste then store in an airtight container. I use 2 ½ teaspoons of taco seasoning per 1 pound of ground meat.” :)

    Any chance someone can tell me what the snack is on page 172 of the cookbook. It’s under the hard boiled egg in the picture? I can’t figure if out!
