Beginner's Guide to Essential Oils

Many people swear by essential oils as home remedies and claim they help keep their kids out of the doctor's office. Though these claims are not backed by the FDA, it certainly sounds intriguing! So if you want to figure out how to incorporate them into your family's routine, here are some good ways to start.

Top 5 Oils

  1. Lavender
Lavender Population is known for being calming by reducing anxiety and acting as a stress reliever. It can also help with minor burns and reducing scarring and other skin issues including eczema and psoriasis.
    -
  2. Lemon
Lemon can be refreshing, energizing, and uplifting. It can also be added to your favorite household cleaner to help refresh and sanitize.
    -
  3. Peppermint
Peppermint is stimulating and can help enhance alertness and improve your energy. It can also relieve headaches, nausea, digestive problems, and congestion. Because of its menthol content, peppermint has a cooling effect which can also help reduce a fever and relieve pain.
    -
  4. Tea Tree
Tea Tree is often known for its ability to help combat acne and oily skin. You can also add a few drops to laundry to help keep things fresh.
    -
  5. Frankincense
Frankincense frereana is especially prized for its skin rejuvenating properties. It's great for wrinkles, scars, dry skin and damaged skin, and can help heal a wound or cut. It can also calm and relax your body and uplift your mood.

I would love to try these oils to make a difference in my health. I am also experimenting with them in making homemade goat milk soaps.

I have slowly been trying to convert to a more natural way of living. This includes alternative solutions and plant based home cleaners. But, GOOD essential oils are expensive!! I would love to get a jump start with the starter packs.

I did not have oils when I was raising my family but have gotten into them now.
I now have grandchildren coming along. I would love to win the oils and pass them on to my married children so that I can start another generation on this wonderful amazing journey of using oils.

I was introduced to the power of essential oils when my now 11-year old daughter was about 3 years old. I had traveled about 45 minutes to purchase a laptop from a woman on Craig's list. When we arrived at this lovely strangers house, my daughter started to complain she didn't feel well. I thought it was from the drive and told her not to worry we'd be quick and go right home. As we entered the woman's house, my sweet little darling vomited on the woman's floor. The woman was lovely and calm (and her housed smelled the same). Do not worry about it and she laid my daughter, now burning up with a fever, on a daybed, gave me a cool cloth to care for her and proceeded to introduce me to the power of peppermint oil. The woman diluted the oil with sesame (I believe) and instructed me to massage my daughters back and within a short time her fever was extremely reduced and she was feeling better. The kind woman gave me a bottle of peppermint oil to keep. I have used it since when my children are sick and I love the way I can connect with them, massaging their sickness away. I have tried using essential oils to create my own mosquito repellent as well, but not with as much success.
I have wanted an essential oil lot for years, but have not been able to afford one.
It would be lovely to win one and help me along my journey to a chemical free home.

This would really help me with my switch to a better life style. I am on LOTS of medicines and if I can start helping my body recover instead of just putting a bandage on it, it would be great.

I would love to win the essential oils kit for my family! I am a 2 1/2 year breast cancer survivor, and my husband is fighting skin cancer right now. We have made many changes in our food choices and the products that we use in our home to reduce chemical exposures. We have planted a vegetable garden and are growing our own produce. Several of my friends use essential oils and I would love to have the opportunity to use them in my home! I have signed up for the newsletter. Thank you for hosting this drawing!
