Beginner's Guide to Essential Oils

Many people swear by essential oils as home remedies and claim they help keep their kids out of the doctor's office. Though these claims are not backed by the FDA, it certainly sounds intriguing! So if you want to figure out how to incorporate them into your family's routine, here are some good ways to start.

Top 5 Oils

  1. Lavender
Lavender Population is known for being calming by reducing anxiety and acting as a stress reliever. It can also help with minor burns and reducing scarring and other skin issues including eczema and psoriasis.
    -
  2. Lemon
Lemon can be refreshing, energizing, and uplifting. It can also be added to your favorite household cleaner to help refresh and sanitize.
    -
  3. Peppermint
Peppermint is stimulating and can help enhance alertness and improve your energy. It can also relieve headaches, nausea, digestive problems, and congestion. Because of its menthol content, peppermint has a cooling effect which can also help reduce a fever and relieve pain.
    -
  4. Tea Tree
Tea Tree is often known for its ability to help combat acne and oily skin. You can also add a few drops to laundry to help keep things fresh.
    -
  5. Frankincense
Frankincense frereana is especially prized for its skin rejuvenating properties. It's great for wrinkles, scars, dry skin and damaged skin, and can help heal a wound or cut. It can also calm and relax your body and uplift your mood.

I am extremely interested in learning about alternative approaches / natural therapies to ailments such as insomnia (particularly for my son!), seasonal allergies, stress, etc. In addition we have recently lost both of my husband's parents to different cancers and I am extremely interested in living as healthy a life as possible for myself and the family!

I am one of those folks who has observed those using essential oil from a distance (a little jealous and a little unsure at the same time). This would be a great opportunity for me to just dive in. We've made lots of little changes around the house - "real food," growing a small vegetable garden, more natural cleaners, etc. This would be the next step in our journey towards more holistic living.

Hi there! We're a family of 5 on one income and I'm currently putting $ into setting up my own personal chef business, so money is/has been tight for many years for us. My husband lost both of his parents in their early 60's to cancer and in the last few years my eyes have been hugely opened in doing everything in my power as a wife and mother to take care of my family's (and my own of course) health!!! We've transitioned into organic/clean eating, removing as many toxins from the home, exercising, etc. I've heard great things about essential oils but good quality ones are pricey and we've already made huge adjustments/priorities in which we now spend our money. I would LOVE to find more natural ways of healing ailments and get away from pharmaceuticals as much as possible - so I know these oils would be put to great use!!! My heart is pulling me in this direction of health and wellness and I couldn't be more excited about it. :-)

I love essential oils. I've had cancer for the past 6 years and although I still have a traditional oncologist, I also do as much as I can to help heal my body naturally. Oils have played a major roll in this!

Would love to try! I have heard amazing testimonials from people with different reasons and goals. I have many sniffly allergy kids, plus myself, so I'd love to try some natural remedies. Also, I have severe nausea from pregnancy, so the peppermint oil specifically appeals to me!
