I've posted a few cooking videos on the blog, and it seems like every time I do someone always asks if they can get a full tour. Our kitchen is certainly not perfect or up to model home standards, but we have worked hard to organize and stock it with just about everything we need to make real food. So just for fun here's a look inside some of our cabinets including our kitchen's best kept secret ...the back pantry! With the kids back in school it's the perfect time to work on getting organized, so hopefully this will give you some ideas.
Also if you want to see more detail about any of my kitchen tools that you saw in the video be sure to check out My Kitchen Essentials page.

I love the bricks! And totally envy all those drawers!
Dianne says
what are the best pans to use for muffins or cookies? Thank you so much for all the great tips...I'm learning so much and looking forward to reading your new book!

Hi there. Lisa prefers stainless steel. I know that: http://mightynest.com/ has some. ;)
Sue says
If you're using stainless steel, you can prevent most sticking by NOT cooking on high heat.
Medium High will do the trick, and avoid sticking!
It took a long time for me to figure out that really works!!
Kerrie says
Thanks will definitely try it.
Sarah H. says
Lisa, I love the backsplash and curtain combination! Beautiful kitchen. When I remodeled the kitchen in my old house we put in a lot of drawers too. They're so much more functional than cabinets.
I think I spied a Wonder bread sandwich cutter in the lunch making supply drawer. Made me laugh because if it really was from Wonder there's no way you bought the bread to get it! Ha ha.
Sarah
Kerrie says
Thanks for the video! It was very helpful. One thing I would like to learn more about is the pans you cook with. Do you have any brands you recommend? Also, do you have any tips to help avoid food sticking to pans? That always seems to happen for me.
Thanks again!
Kristy says
Pans look to me like All-Clad stainless...I have a few and I really love them. Macy's sells them, they are pretty expensive (try to catch them on sale) but worth it and will last forever! Most everything from All-Clad is made in USA except for the specialty pans like the turkey roasting pan and a few others.
Kerrie says
Thanks I'll look for All-Clad.
Amy Taylor (comment moderator) says
Hi Kerrie. You can find Lisa's pans here: https://www.100daysofrealfood.com/my-kitchen-essentials/. And this might help: http://missvickie.com/howto/cooking101/secret.htm. :)
Janet says
I use an old dish draining wire rack for Tupperware lids. You could also use the file holders. It makes finding the lids even faster!
LOVE your kitchen. Thanks for sharing :)
matt says
Pottery Barn had those type of white bowls last year. Maybe you can try there for the white ones.
Pamela says
Loving your new book, Congratulations! Could you please tell me where you located that lovely white set of nesting bowls. I checked amazon and cannot locate them - thank you.
Lisa says
Thank you! I got them from Williams-Sonoma, but it was a long time ago.
Christina says
Hello Lisa! I am super excited for two reasons. First, I just ordered your book and cannot wait to get into eating whole real foods. I ordered off Amazon and they have it set up where I can read the first part of the book (after I ordered). Which brings me to my second reason, I read the part about your husband living in Oregon on a christian commune...when I was a little girl my family lived in Oregon on a christian commune in a small town. Now, I do not know if it is the same one but you must admit it is very coincidental.
I cannot wait to begin this journey. Oh, and my husband is 100% on board and that makes all the difference to me!
Samantha says
Is that an advantium with your wall oven? Or what type of configuration is it and do you like it?
Lisa says
Yes, it is an advantium. I think it's okay to be honest. I mainly only use it for the microwave feature and not even that much. I really wish I had a double oven, but if we did that I am not sure where the microwave would go!
Sarah says
In one of your pantries you showed all the stuff you have for entertaining. I would love to know some of the meals you make when you have people over. This is always a tough one for me because I am not sure what I think is delicious (and nutritious) will be the same for guests.
Amy McCready says
Lisa - love the idea of using the file separators for lids, baking pans, etc. Mine are a MESS and that is such a great idea. As always - thanks for the INSPIRATION. That's why you are a New York Times BEST SELLING author!! Woohoo! xo
Lisa says
You are too sweet Amy - I am happy I could help you get organized!! :)
Shonda says
I just ordered your cookbook! I'm so exited. I love everything that you do on this site and want to spend more time here. I want to do all whole foods and I mostly do, but I know your cookbook will help me do that even better.
Kristin says
Absolutely LOVED your video! We are doing a kitchen renovation next spring and you gave me lots of storage ideas. The pot lid rack is sheer genius! I am also excited to learn that the cutting board/baking pan racks can be installed after the fact. I have seen some wooden built in storage options, but I don't want to commit to a permanent storage space until I have been in the new kitchen a few months. My kitchen rule is that if the item doesn't get used at least once a year, it goes.
Karen says
I love your website and your kitchen is dreamy. Kudos to you for getting on the nytimes best-seller list!!
I have your cookbook and LOVE it!
Thank you!0
Lisa says
Thanks so much Karen! :)
Sarah says
I'm also in love with the chevron rug! Would love to know where it's from. Also, where is the rack from that you used for your cutting board? Thanks so much. You're awesome.
Lisa says
I got the rug from overstock.com ...but it was a while ago! Here's the link to the baking rack: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003ZJEQLC/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B003ZJEQLC&linkCode=as2&tag=100dayofreafo-20&linkId=VYXPYEAH346HTVHL

Lisa,
I am not on facebook anymore at the moment and I just had to tell you I absolutely LOVE your book/cookbook! Mine finally came yesterday and I spent the whole evening reading through it cover to cover. Thank you so much for all you do and I will continue to keep an eye out for your blog as well as check your website regularly. :)
Lisa says
I am so glad you are enjoying the book! :)
Alison says
Thanks for taking us on a tour of your amazing kitchen! I am envious of your island and counter space. I was wondering, though, where your chevron rug is from?? I just love it!
Lisa says
I actually got it on overstock.com a little while ago! Not sure if it's still there.
Tom Goodwin says
I couldn't watch more than 10 seconds when I realized there is no way I'll ever have a kitchen like that. Does this program work for the middle class with small Kitchens and crammed packed drawers?
Assistant to 100 Days (Amy) says
Hi Tom. Real food can happen in any kitchen large or tiny, organized or not. You just need a system that will work for you. Aesthetics don't matter but what's in your pantry does. :) ~Amy
Sandy Somerville says
I downloaded your cookbook on my iPad last night. I kept reading and reading instead of going to sleep. One Great Book!
I do not have a Slow Cooker and want to purchase one. The one you have is a big one. Could you suggest a good one that is big enough to cook a whole chicken per your recipe but not too huge for me as one person, sometimes 3 to enjoy. Thanks!
Jason Leake with 100 Days of Real Food says
Hi Sandy - I'm glad you are enjoying the book! Actually our slow cooker is a pretty standard size, and honestly I don't think you could cook a whole chicken in a smaller slow cooker. - Jason
Deborah @ mommycrusader says
Thanks for the tour of your kitchen. I love they way you organized it.
Jennifer says
Thanks for the great ideas. I was wondering where you store your knives. I didn't see them in any of the drawers or out on the counter.
Jason Leake with 100 Days of Real Food says
Hi Jennifer - We store our knives in a knife block on a shelf in the kitchen pantry. Honestly this is just carry over of having knives out of reach when our children were small. I really like the magnetic knife holders that mount to the backsplash. Have to try to convince Lisa to go that route. We don't like clutter, but obviously having knives handy is great for the frequent cook. - Jason
Lynn says
First I want to say that I received my personalized autographed book in the mail yesterday!! I'm so excited. I go away with my husband this weekend and can't wait to pack it. I promise I'll get my photo in of all my kids and us holding your book as soon as I get out of the kitchen cooking all your recipes!
I really need some help. I have 2 questions I'd love to ask you. First, every time I make waffles and use coconut oil it turns into a solid when added to the cold milk. Do you warm the milk first? Today I was do the recipe times 6 to freeze for future school mornings, 6 kids over here, so I just used olive oil so I didn't have to deal with the hardened coconut oil.
Next question:
I'm using canning jars (first time ever!) to can your tomato bisque for my kids school lunches. What are the steps you take to properly can? Do you boil the jars first in a canner first and then reboil ect? Also if you go through the processing of the jars why do you freeze the jars? You can just store them in the pantry right?
Thank you and congrats on your awesome book and all its sales!
Assistant to 100 Days (Amy) says
Hi Lynn. So glad you got your book! Enjoy. Here is info that will help with using coconut oil: https://www.100daysofrealfood.com/2012/02/07/how-to-cook-with-coconut-oil/. Regarding canning, Lisa has just dabbled. For the most part she freezes her cooked soups, sauces, and such in clean canning containers and does not go through the canning process. Here, however, are a few posts on canning and preserving: https://www.100daysofrealfood.com/2012/05/10/how-to-can-some-jam-a-simple-method-without-pectin/, https://www.100daysofrealfood.com/2012/07/13/preserving-seasonal-foods-bell-peppers/ and https://www.100daysofrealfood.com/2014/06/26/blueberry-jam-honey-sweetened/. Hope that helps. :) ~Amy
Kristin says
In regards to coconut oil and waffles/baking, I always make sure my eggs are room temp (10 minutes in a warm water bath if you don't plan ahead like me), warm my milk slightly, and warm my coconut oil to melt it or briefly rewarm it if already liquid just in case. These few extra steps will ensure baking success with coconut oil every time.
Elena @ Wholesome Style says
Lisa, your kitchen is beautiful! We recently downsized (a happy little sacrifice in order to move closer to the beach) and I am finding that I am happier in a smaller space. It is much more manageable and has forced me to purge, and really get organized in a way that I never had to do before. I love the vertical racks you use for holding all your various lids, boards, and such, and I especially love your tupperware lid drawer. :) Thanks for sharing your personal space!
Barbara says
HI Lisa!
Thanks for the great ideas! On a side note, can you please tell me the color of blue on your walls? It's very pretty!!
Thanks!
Jason Leake with 100 Days of Real Food says
Thanks Barbara. We love the color! It is Smokey Slate 460E-3 by Behr, which you can buy at Home Depot. - Jason
Amy says
Love your kitchen. Do you have an organizer in the drawer with your kitchen tools? I have drawers that I keep stuff like spoons and knives and other kitchen tools in, but have a very hard time keeping everything organized.
Jason Leake with 100 Days of Real Food says
Thanks Amy. We actually have two standard utensil organizers in the wide top drawer. That leaves a gap in the middle and in the front that we use to store other tools. - Jason
Justin from Extreme Health Radio says
Hi Lisa! I heard you guys on Pat Flynn's site. Great stuff. I have to say though I'm jealous of that huge island you have. Keep up the great work! :)
Lisa says
Thanks for listening Justin and for following along! We do love the big island, but it is also a lot to clean :)
miveg says
So cool~~~~~
Karen says
Oh my word! What a fabulous kitchen. Hey, those drawers are just so much better than cupboards, aren't they. I guess that all amounts to minimal time spent on one's knees, twisting one's back into all manner of poses to look for something that, 'must be in here somewhere'! Congrats on the book too.
Heather Angelo says
I really enjoyed seeing your kitchen! Organization and a tidy kitchen make cooking so much easier. I am also enjoying my cookbook and the e book! I hope your next book will be 100 days of real lunches including kids, adult home lunches, and adult packed lunches and one day a 100 people's real food to see the real world application of this life style across a nation! I am so thankful for this blog helping my family and I make healthier choices!
[email protected] says
You have inspired me to get organized! I love to be organized, now I'm going to actually do it, after seeing how nice yours looks. Thanks for your ideas.
Rebecca says
Love your kitchen and love your new book! We've been visiting your website since 2010 when our daughter was diagnosed with cancer. Your website has helped our journey to eliminate processed foods and eat healthy, healing foods. We got the cookbook yesterday and we were drooling over the recipes. Loved all the great information in the front half of the book! Also, the lists in the back for which recipes were dairy free are helpful for our family where dairy is an issue for one child. I just posted to my Facebook page how great the cookbook is and it would make an excellent gift for someone:) Thank you for sharing your journey!
Heather says
I love your beautiful kitchen and all your cabinets and drawers. My kitchen is sorely lacking in cabinet space. I want to live next door to you and be your friend. LOL :)
Sarah says
Jealousy. that's a beautiful huge kitchen. I'm a grad student who loves to cook and am in a postage stamp sized kitchen. You'd have to get rid of most of those things I have 3 7"wide drawers and that's it. I have to keep my pans under the sink because they won't fit anywhere else. You really learn to get creative with very little space, and you really learn what's truly necessary when you have to.
Jason Leake with 100 Days of Real Food says
Hi Sarah - We spent a month in an RV this summer and got a taste of what it's like to cook in a tiny kitchen. The only appliance we used was a crock pot, and we only had three small drawers as well. I did miss the dishwasher and counter space, but we made some good meals and managed OK. :) And yes, you do learn to get creative! - Jason
Carrie Giacofei says
Where did you get your organizer for your cutting boards? Would love to do this to keep my baking sheets organized!
Raquel says
Ikea has one that is super cheap and easy to install for any size cabinet!
Renee says
Your kitchen is just beautiful! I love the island! We have the same bar stools. We bought years ago at World Market. :)
Karen Smith says
I was going to ask about the bar stools, as well!
Congrats on your new book....it's awesome!
Toni says
Great ideas! Where are your bar stools from? Love them!
Lisa says
Gosh Bed, Bath and Beyond maybe? We've had them forever - thanks for the compliment!
