Beginner's Guide to Essential Oils

Many people swear by essential oils as home remedies and claim they help keep their kids out of the doctor's office. Though these claims are not backed by the FDA, it certainly sounds intriguing! So if you want to figure out how to incorporate them into your family's routine, here are some good ways to start.

Top 5 Oils

  1. Lavender
Lavender Population is known for being calming by reducing anxiety and acting as a stress reliever. It can also help with minor burns and reducing scarring and other skin issues including eczema and psoriasis.
    -
  2. Lemon
Lemon can be refreshing, energizing, and uplifting. It can also be added to your favorite household cleaner to help refresh and sanitize.
    -
  3. Peppermint
Peppermint is stimulating and can help enhance alertness and improve your energy. It can also relieve headaches, nausea, digestive problems, and congestion. Because of its menthol content, peppermint has a cooling effect which can also help reduce a fever and relieve pain.
    -
  4. Tea Tree
Tea Tree is often known for its ability to help combat acne and oily skin. You can also add a few drops to laundry to help keep things fresh.
    -
  5. Frankincense
Frankincense frereana is especially prized for its skin rejuvenating properties. It's great for wrinkles, scars, dry skin and damaged skin, and can help heal a wound or cut. It can also calm and relax your body and uplift your mood.

I would love to win these oils because this is how my family likes to treat most of our illnesses and injuries. Unfortunately, essential oils are expensive, so we have a small collection currently. I have a passion for using alternative medicines and would be so excited to add these oils to my kitchen/medicine cabinet, etc.

I have just recently started researching essential oils, and am really excited about the kit for kids. I've read that you're not supposed to use EO on kids under 5 (which mine are), but to use hydrsols instead. I'm very interested in the synergies kit!

I like Plant Therapy because they are an ethical company with quality oils and exceptional customer service. They are also big on education on the safe and proper usage of essential oils. I appreciate that because so many EO companies out there do not fit all of these criteria.

I've used a few essential oils with the kids for a few years now. I love eucalyptus and lavender! The starter kits are so expensive though before I know if my kids like them. It'd be awesome to get such a huge variety to try on them!

I have a few essential oils that I use around the house--orangle oil in my all purpose cleaner and lemon oil as an air freshener. I would love to find out more about using essential oils for allergy relief and as an insect repellent.

I've been reading more and more recently about the health benifits of essential oils. My daughter is tube fed because of her prematuratity and she is now 5 years old with a very little apatite and she is failure to grow. Medically they've tried everything, even some very scary medications. She doesn't tolerate very high volume which is difficult when we're trying to add calories. She's also easily effected by the littlest colds and so we she looses weight from a strong gag reflux and vomiting. Medically we've been advised to use all these chemical formulas and medications and we tried years ago with little success. I take pride in making my daughter formula by search from as much organic foods as possible and treating her cold sx and apatite in more natural ways. I think she could benifit greatly from some of these. I think our whole family will, as this has been stressful mentally and physically on my husband and I. I'd love to explore the natural ways to take care of our body's, mentally and physically and our home with essential oils but they are quite expensive so I've only been able to try a few.
